A Letter For the Self-Centered

Not human

But a dog.

When I’m gone,

You’ll be

Onto

The next.

And,

Like a dog,

I want to

Protect you.

I start to bark

But I forget you

Correct

Anyone

Who interjects

Too,

Even if

They

Simply ask

For mutual respect.

This world is

Too full of “pets”,

Too many vets

Who end their OWN

Pets’ lives,

Too many upsets.

Truth is,

None of us

Are free

So we seize

ANY opportunity

To sleazily

Take birds from

Their nests

In the trees,

Nothing less than

The best

Of humanity.

INSANITY …

I’m still standing,

See?

If you’re finished

Scanning

And branding me,

Please have a seat.

Let’s talk it out.

Why do you need

Animals to be found?

Haven’t you animals,

You clowns,

Heard the sound

Of another’s voice

By now

Other than your own

Before making a choice

This profound,

Before shaking the ground

With bulldozers and

Surrounding yourselves

With mounds of

Burning towns

As you raid them

So that

Even fish

Start to drown?

Take your crown off.

You fools

Just

Sound off,

Marching to bars

Just to pound shots.

“Another round, boss!

Let’s all numb

Our cocks

So we can forget

All of the loss

We’ve caused.”

Lost causes,

Indeed.

We’d rather precede

To use

A stead for war,

Whether it bleeds …

Well,

Who cares anymore?

WELL,

The steads do.

They ask : “What for?”

Are you keeping score,

Seeking more

Than a boring life

By TAKING lives

And shaking shores,

(Not hands, of course)

Making moors

Quake

As long as our

Budget can afford

To break shit?

Your sword

Is dull

Like you,

Used so many

Times

To resolve squabbles

And fights

You haven’t

A CLUE.

You just knew

You had to be

Right,

The “others”

Wrong.

You had to be strong

And show your dominance,

Blow shit up

Just to rise

To prominence

In this sick

Hominid

Species.

Makes me want

To vomit …

So send your nukes out,

Explode those cities

With your

Artificial

Comets

Since you’re

So robotic,

So obsessed

With electronics

You never knew

What it meant

NOT

To be Hooked

On Phonics

Before you tarnished

This heartless

Planet.

I can’t stand it

But I won’t sit

With this,

I won’t quit

Even as you rip

Our lives from

Our fingertips.

Until peace

Is the currency,

Though the world

May worry me,

Our furry friends

Will have a happy

End

As long as we

Defend them

And fend off

These predators,

Be they

Saints

Or senators,

As long as

Hate is

Prevented,

Time and time

Again

And we see

The universal theme :

We’re a team,

Not just

Self-centered

Competitors.

But here

Is my letter

To THEM.
